A Spiritualist History of Niagara Falls: Part One

In Ghost Stories, Niagara Deaths, Spiritualism in Niagara Falls on March 2, 2013 at 2:15 pm

American Spiritualism was born in March of 1848, when the Fox sisters began communicating with Mr. Splitfoot–the spirit of a peddler who had been murdered and buried under their home in Hydesville, New York–not too far from Lily Dale–where they are celebrated today. But did you know that some Spiritualists believed that this all occurred because of an event in Niagara Falls? I have been following and recording the history of Spiritualism and the Paranormal in Niagara Falls. It is undeniably a recurring theme.

If you are interested in this more “unique” history of Niagara, make sure you check out this month’s installments on The Journal of the Dead Beats Society and on the website for Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls.
