The Federation of Genealogical Societies, Ancestry.com, Fold3 and FamilySearch have teamed together in a combined effort to digitize and preserve over 180,000 pension records from the War of 1812.  Their campaign, Preserve the Pensions, is spearheading a nationwide fundraising initiative to digitize these fragile and fading records.  You may access some records at the following website:
