This photo is of the Ciambrone women still living in Gimigliano, Catanzaro, Italy. Maria Felice Ciambrone is the older woman on the right.  The woman on the left is Katrina and the younger girl may be Katrina’s daughter.  There is no date.  Note the traditional costumes.

Maria Teresa Scalzo Ciambrone

Maria Teresa Scalzo Ciambrone (1878-1942) was the mother of eighteen children–many of whom did not live too long after birth. Born in Gimigliano, province of Catanzaro, Italy, she was married at age fifteen to Joseph Ciambrone and lived in Niagara Falls, New York.

A saloon owned by the Scalzo brothers.  We’re unsure of the exact address of this location.

A notation on the photograph reads:  304-11th Street?  1907-1918.

Frank Scalzo (1884-1956) was the son of Maria Saveria Critelli Scalzo and Salvatore Scalzo.  He was born in Gimigliano, province of Catanzaro, in Italy.  He came to the United States in 1885.
